Manchester gig tonight

Having read with some surprise, and lets face it disbelief, about the shambolic Glasgow gig and less than enthralling London one I went to tonights gig in Manchester with fears for the worst.

I am pleased to say that these were unecessary as Mindy performed a very nice 90 minute set.

No apparent signs of the problems mentioned here and on other groups.

She fluffed one line all night which was unfortunately on One Moment More.

She was both charming and funny between songs and a little kooky in a very good way of course.

Hopefully last weekends gig in Glasgow was a serious one-off.

Thanks Mindy for a great night tonight.

Have to agree - a wonderful evening. Mindy was as floopy as anything but that’s a good thing, right?

‘Come to Jesus’ was simply outstanding. The aforementioned fluffed lyric was endearing, particuarly given the closeness to that song that Mindy must have.

Mindy was charming and came through to sign stuff and chat a little afterwards. All in all, 90 minutes never went so quick. A class act in all respects.

Saw Mindy at The Arts Theatre in London last Thursday. The venue is a dump, but Mindy performed admirably considering she was all alone. It was a bit disappointing that she was unable to bring over at least one supporting musician, but her personality shone through with lots of wit and self-deprecation. Her voice wavered on a few high notes, but overall it projected her marvellous songs with majestic warmth and beauty. She was also very chatty to her fans after the gig, allowing photos to be taken and signing autographs. After the long journey down from Glasgow that day she must have been weary, but didn’t allow this to detract from meeting us afterwards.

Mindy also came along to the Suzy Bogguss gig on Monday evening at the Queen Elizabeth Hall on London’s Southbank. She was there primarily to see her good friend and co-writer Elizabeth Cook, who put in a magical performance. A previous reply referred to Mindy as a bit kooky, which I agree with, but Elizabeth is as wacky as any songstress I have ever encountered!! Mindy respectfully stayed right through Suzy’s set - again despite having a lengthy journey to Manchester next day. She’s an angel, and I hope the Glasgow fans will be rewarded this time with top-rate performances at Celtic Connections this weekend. Little Dave
